What did our global Anabaptist family watch in 2025?
Mennonite World Conference’s (MWC) YouTube channel reveals four categories of videos that were most watched by Anabaptists around the world.
Is one of these categories your favourite too?
Anabaptist@500 commemoration service
Naturally, at the top of the list is the Anabaptist@500 commemoration service and highlights. Available with interpretation in French, Spanish and German, the four videos have been watched 5 400 times.
“Many churches and families hosted a watch party, so each video view may have been watched by multiple people,” says MWC chief communications officer Kristina Toews, “I’m glad that although not everyone could be in the Grossmünster church in Zurich for the commemoration service, the moment was enjoyed by Anabaptists around the world, including those who live in time zones that make live streaming difficult.”
Worship songs from around the world
Coming in at a close second at just over 5 000 views are videos of the five choirs who performed at various locations in Zurich on 29 May 2025: Eastern Mennonite University Chamber Singers from the United States, Eastleigh Fellowship Centre Mennonite Church Choir from Kenya, TIARA from Indonesia, Songs of Peace from Switzerland, and Ágape Band from Paraguay.
Included in the view count are the song videos of the five choirs at the commemoration service in Grossmünster church.
“Singing transcends language barriers. Songs can be enjoyed even when people don’t speak the language,” Kristina Toews says.
“Get to know MWC” videos
The third category of most watched videos are orientation materials about MWC: our history, vision and mission, structure, and how we make decisions by consensus. Totalling some 2 800 views shared between 28 videos in 3 languages, these materials were first created for General Council members. However, these videos can help anyone in the global Anabaptist family understand the history of MWC and how we work.
Year in Review
Always a favourite is the Year in Review videos. The video for 2024 had more than 1 200 views. Each year, a new video gives a visual report of what MWC has been doing, the triumphs, the challenges, the plans and the connections we made.
The new Year in Review video will be coming out soon. We encourage local congregations around the world to share our 2025 Year in Review video around the week of Anabaptist World Fellowship Sunday, to help church members connect with the global family.
“The MWC Communications team has been posting more videos in the last several years. The top hits on videos of singing and worshipping together show our desire to connect with sisters and brothers beyond our local churches. It’s a Psalm 133:1 impulse: ‘how very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity,’” says Kristina Toews.
