Invitation to screen Mennonite documentary

Celebrating 500 years of Anabaptism, the new documentary, Where the Cottonwoods Grow, is booking screenings in communities around the world. You are invited to be part of it by arranging your own local screening.

Where the Cottonwoods Grow follows the 1874 migration of Mennonites from Imperial Russia (Ukraine) to the West – a journey of survival, resilience and hope. The film recounts how these Mennonites faced trials that tested the very fabric of their faith.

“Telling even a small piece of Mennonite history through this film has truly been an honour,” says filmmaker Dale Hildebrand.

These screenings have been moments of reconnection and reflection. For many, it’s been a powerful way to engage younger generations with a living history.

What Dale Hildebrand has found most moving at the screenings is that “people are staying long after the credits have rolled – sharing stories, laughter, tears, and a renewed sense of community.”

Language: English (with Subtitles in German, Spanish & French)
