MWC launches “Ambassador Kit” for churches to promote Indonesia 2022

NEW materials 2022-03

As the COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we travel, Mennonite World Conference representatives and Assembly team seek new ways to bring awareness and excitement for Indonesia 2022, which will be MWC’s first hybrid global assembly. With Assembly 17 less than 12 months away, MWC launches an “Ambassador Kit” for churches to use in promoting Indonesia 2022 to their members.

“For previous Assemblies, conventions and regular church services were opportunities to spread news and excitement about the upcoming event,” says Arli Klassen, MWC regional representatives coordinator. “With so many gatherings reduced in attendance or moved online, we’re counting on you to be our ambassadors for 2022’s event. The kit gives MWC member churches the tools to be Assembly messengers.”

The Ambassador Kit consists of flyers, posters, postcards, PowerPoint slides and short videos to download. Churches can

  • Project onto the screen during church announcements
  • Play before/after the service to bring about more awareness
  • Insert in the church bulletin
  • Pin up as a poster on the church notice board
  • Email to congregation lists
  • Post on social media (personal or church)

“The kit will be available in installments,” says Assembly communications coordinator Elina Ciptadi. “The first series covers MWC, why we host Assembly every six years, and what people can expect out of this global gathering.

“Future installments will include prayer requests, volunteering opportunities, the program, testimonials from participants of past Assembly and how to register.

“Please download and use the resources as part of your church announcements.”

MWC chief international events officer Liesa Unger says, “The three Mennonite synods in Indonesia remain steadfast in their desire to host the worldwide Anabaptist family for Assembly 17 – if possible, on site in Indonesia; if not, through online tools.

“We seek your prayer support that the situation will improve and that it will be possible for international guests to come to Indonesia in 2022 to witness the resilience, creativity and faithfulness of the Indonesian Mennonite church as they live out the gospel of peace in a multireligious context.”

The Ambassador Kit is available for download here.
