Leaving a legacy

Network webinars inspire, teach and connect

Anabaptists are following Jesus in the world, building peace. This is often accomplished through organizations developed by churches to work alongside. The Networks* of Mennonite World Conference provide a home for members of these organizations to learn from one other about what it means to be Anabaptist-related institutions; to equip themselves to serve better; and to do work together that would not be possible as smaller groups.

“Passion for Christ and his word… makes all leadership and all work become true worship to the King of kings and Lord of lords,” said Carlos Daniel Soto, pastor of the Mennonite church Paso de los Libres in Argentina. He was a panelist in GMF’s webinar “Succession in Service: Preparing the next wave of mission leaders.”

“If we are able to transmit this, we will be leaving a legacy,” he says.

In 2024 and 2025, GASN*, GMF* and the emerging GAPN*, and GAEN* hosted 12 webinars that included perspectives on Palestine, insights into the operations of Anabaptist schools and social service agencies, a history of conscientious objection, and teaching on decolonization.

The Networks will meet in Germany alongside the General Council meetings for fellowship and to plan their activities for the next triennium. Revised terms of reference for the Networks will be considered by the General Council in May.

*The Commissions of Mennonite World Conference facilitate Networks to resource the institutions that belong to the Network: Global Anabaptist Service Network (GASN), Global Mission Fellowship (GMF), Global Anabaptist Peace Network (GAPN), Global Anabaptist Education Networks (GAEN – consists of Global Anabaptist Higher Education Network and Global Anabaptist Primary and Secondary Network) and Global Anabaptist Health Network.
