“We live in a complicated world. Erosion of trust and breakdown in relationships are all too common. The good news is that as abundant as conflict may be, so is the commitment within Anabaptist Mennonite communities around the world to follow Jesus’ call to work for justice and to make peace,” says Max Wiedmer, producer of Transmission.
Transmission is a series of 5 films of 10 minutes created by Affox AG, a multimedia production company. They present Anabaptist thought to people around the world to encourage a life of faith.
“We provide a glimpse at the journeys we experience as disciples of Jesus in different parts of the world,” says Max Wiedmer.
The fifth video has been released in English, Spanish, French. German and Dutch will be available soon.
“We as producers came face-to-face with the complexities of making peace,” says Max Wiedmer. The film explores “what it means to be faithful to Jesus’ call to love our neighbours and to love our enemies” through four stories:
- Living in peace in Ukraine
- Hearing God’s voice in Northern Ireland
- Preparing for justice in Burundi, Rwanda and DR Congo
- Finding hope in reconciliation work in Canada.
Each film is accompanied with a study guide with background on the subject and location and questions for discussion in a small group, youth group or Sunday school class.
“It is our hope to strengthen our sense of shared identity and community in the midst of all the diversity present throughout the Anabaptist body,” says Max Wiedmer.
