PN-Dec-25-Hong Kong

On 26 November 2025, seven of the eight buildings at the Wang Fuk court apartment complex were destroyed in the worst fire in Hong Kong in 77 years. At least 159 people died and 31 people are still unaccounted for; 79 people were injured including 12 firefighters; 4 200 families have lost their homes.

Mennonite churches in Hong Kong are collecting donations to support disaster relief organizations and affected families. The churches are also organizing prayer meetings and providing spiritual counselling sessions, and also preparing for long-term needs and follow-up work.

Almighty God, we beseech your healing upon those who are physically injured; grant them proper medical care and bring them to full recovery. We ask your merciful love to comfort the broken-hearted, the mourning families, and the friends left behind, and to provide suitable counselling and companions to walk alongside in their grief.

Heavenly Father, we beseech you to empower and strengthen your people to serve faithfully. Deepen the faith, hope and love of all brothers and sisters so that they may support those in need, living out the love of Christ.

Lord of wisdom and mercy, we pray for firefighters, police officers, medical staff, social workers and community support teams: grant them strength, courage and sufficient resources. We pray that you bestow wisdom and clear judgment upon those guiding the investigation, so that justice and mercy may walk together.

May society be renewed with improved safety systems, strengthened prevention and restoration plans.

In the holy name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
