Introducing the Global Family

日本メノナイトブレザレン教団 - Nihon Menonaito Burezaren Kyoudan: Japan Mennonite Brethren Conference

Member Conference

The Japan Mennonite Brethren Conference unites today 29 churches in Japan. In total, the Conference has approximately 1676 members. Representing the Conference at ICOMB is Pastor Takao Sugi.

Church Life during 2020

During 2020, all church activities were severely restricted due to COVID-19, and this especially affected evangelistic activities. But even still, the churches were able to share the gospel with a large number of people online and connect with Christians all over the country, and it became easy to connect online with church members who live far away. Even when the church members were not able to come to church, they continued to make donations faithfully, and the churches’ financial obligations were met.

JMBC 70th Anniversary

The JMBC was born in 1950 by the ministries of missionaries sent by Mennonite Brethren churches in North America and thanks to the prayers and donations from brothers and sisters of these churches. Today, as it celebrates its 70th anniversary, the Conference is still more than thankful for these fruitful contributions.

The 70th anniversary commemorative event of the Japan MB Conference, which was scheduled to be held last year but could not take place due to COVID-19 regulations, was held online last month, on 20 September 2021. It was a very blessed event, and many members joined the event. You can watch the event on YouTube (Japanese language only) at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M612HXt6F-c

Prayer motives

  • Pray that the brothers and sisters of the Lord will be spiritually strengthened even during the COVID pandemic so that they can serve as witnesses of the Lord with love to those who are weak and in need.
  • Pray for more workers in Japan, and that more people who desire to be full-time ministers will enroll in the seminary.
  • It is difficult for many MB churches to fully support their pastors financially, and it is becoming necessary for pastors to serve in two or more churches. Please pray for financial provision.
  • There is a growing tendency in Japan to dislike religion, and the churches are concerned that the number of baptisms will continue to decrease. Please pray for God’s moving among the Japanese people.
