Vous vous battez pour le pouvoir \u00bb. C\u2019est ce qu\u2019a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 une missionnaire d\u2019Am\u00e9rique du Nord apr\u00e8s plusieurs d\u00e9cennies en Colombie. Elle parlait des ruptures incessantes de relations entre les responsables d\u2019\u00e9glises \u00e0 cause de conflits.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s 22 ans de minist\u00e8re en Colombie, je dois reconna\u00eetre que c\u2019est la triste r\u00e9alit\u00e9 de nos \u00e9glises. Pendant ces ann\u00e9es, j\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 t\u00e9moin de trop de conflits malsains dans nos assembl\u00e9es ; j\u2019ai aussi vu trop de relations bris\u00e9es, et trop de personnes bless\u00e9es quittant les \u00e9glises \u00e0 cause de ces conflits.<\/p>\n<p>Toutefois, depuis que je travaille \u00e0 la CMM, j\u2019ai d\u00e9couvert que les probl\u00e8mes d\u2019abus de pouvoir et de conflits malsains entre responsables ne sont pas seulement une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 colombienne. En fait, ils semblent \u00eatre transculturels et pr\u00e9sents chez tous les peuples et toutes les nations, et en quelque sorte un g\u00e8ne \u2018trans-anabaptiste\u2019 qui a touch\u00e9 toutes nos \u00e9glises. Quelques soient nos diff\u00e9rences culturelles et th\u00e9ologiques, ils sont pr\u00e9sents depuis Ca\u00efn et Abel.<\/p>\n<p>Quelles caract\u00e9ristiques ai-je pu observer chez les responsables d\u2019\u00e9glises impliqu\u00e9s dans des conflits malsains et des abus de pouvoir \u00e0 travers le monde ? \u00ca ce jour, j\u2019ai not\u00e9 :<\/p>\n<p><strong>Des besoins personnels non satisfaits.<\/strong> Lorsque des responsables sont confront\u00e9s \u00e0 des conflits, ils manifestent parfois de r\u00e9elles faiblesses \u00e9motionnelles. Certains responsables par exemple, semblent avoir soif de reconnaissance. Ils s\u2019attendent \u00e0 recevoir un traitement sp\u00e9cial ou de la gratitude pour leur travail. Lorsque ce n\u2019est pas le cas, ils r\u00e9agissent avec agressivit\u00e9 envers les autres, ou sont entra\u00een\u00e9s dans une spirale descendante vers la passivit\u00e9 et l\u2019apitoiement sur soi. Comme nos \u00e9glises seraient diff\u00e9rentes si nous apprenions \u00e0 prier comme M\u00e8re Teresa : \u00ab Seigneur, fais que je cherche \u00e0 aimer plut\u00f4t qu\u2019\u00e0 \u00eatre aim\u00e9 \u00bb !<\/p>\n<p>Un autre exemple a trait aux responsables qui ont appris \u00e0 lutter contre leur sentiment de vide en profitant des privil\u00e8ges li\u00e9s \u00e0 certains postes eccl\u00e9siaux. Craignant de les perdre, ils font tout pour les garder et ne s\u2019inqui\u00e8tent pas de blesser quelqu\u2019un pour cela. La satisfaction de leurs besoins affectifs est plus importante que les personnes pour lesquelles ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 appel\u00e9s \u00e0 consacrer leur vie.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Un extr\u00eame perfectionnisme.<\/strong> Il se manifeste quand des responsables ne sont pas pr\u00eats \u00e0 reconna\u00eetre leurs erreurs ou \u00e0 demander pardon quand ils ont bless\u00e9 quelqu\u2019un. Il n\u2019est pas facile de se montrer vuln\u00e9rable lorsque l\u2019on occupe des postes de direction. Ces personnes croient que si elles ouvrent leur c\u0153ur et reconnaissent leurs erreurs, elles perdront leur autorit\u00e9. C\u2019est peut-\u00eatre l\u2019influence de la s\u00e9cularisation. La vision d\u2019un responsable fort et solitaire n\u2019exprimant pas ses sentiments est le r\u00e9sultat des concepts culturels, mais n\u2019a pas de place dans le service qui, dans la vision chr\u00e9tienne, s\u2019accomplit en \u00e9tant bless\u00e9 et vuln\u00e9rable, et non en dominant les autres.<\/p>\n<p><strong>L\u2019insistance sur l\u2019uniformit\u00e9.<\/strong> La cons\u00e9quence naturelle de l\u2019abus de pouvoir, c\u2019est la tentation de supprimer la diversit\u00e9. Ce genre de responsables ne tol\u00e8re pas ceux qui pensent diff\u00e9remment qu\u2019eux. Diff\u00e9rences th\u00e9ologiques ou de style de leadership sont critiqu\u00e9es et \u00e9tiquet\u00e9es comme p\u00e9ch\u00e9s par ceux qui fonctionnent de mani\u00e8re autoritaire. La diversit\u00e9 \u00e9tant per\u00e7ue comme une menace, ces responsables utilisent un credo pour v\u00e9rifier l\u2019orthodoxie sans reconna\u00eetre que la diversit\u00e9 a fait partie int\u00e9grante de la foi chr\u00e9tienne depuis ses d\u00e9buts.<\/p>\n<p>Ces caract\u00e9ristiques se retrouvent chez de nombreux leaders qui ne connaissent pas d\u2019autre moyen d\u2019exercer leurs responsabilit\u00e9s. Il nous faut vraiment un nouveau mod\u00e8le de leadership. Comment nos \u00e9glises peuvent-elles r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 ce besoin ? Dieu nous appelle \u00e0 un mod\u00e8le de leadership inspir\u00e9 de la vie de J\u00e9sus et renforc\u00e9 par nos valeurs anabaptistes. Ce mod\u00e8le ne cherche pas ses propres int\u00e9r\u00eats, mais le bien-\u00eatre des autres, reconna\u00eet ses erreurs et s\u2019exerce \u00e0 partir d\u2019une position de vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9, qui c\u00e9l\u00e8bre la diversit\u00e9 au lieu de la r\u00e9duire ou de la supprimer.
