C\u2019est seulement une des nombreuses questions que le coordonnateur national de PA 2015, Howard Good des \u00c9tats-Unis, s\u2019est pos\u00e9e quand lui et son \u00e9quipe ont consid\u00e9r\u00e9 le Champ de Foire de la Pennsylvanie \u00e0 Harrisburg comme le site potentiel du prochain Rassemblement de la Conf\u00e9rence Mennonite Mondiale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s avoir examin\u00e9 une \u00e9tude de faisabilit\u00e9 approfondie, le Comit\u00e9 Ex\u00e9cutif de la CMM a choisi en mai 2011 de tenir le 16e<\/sup> Rassemblement aux \u00c9tats-Unis, plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment au Champ de Foire de la Pennsylvanie. Le site, construit dans les ann\u00e9es 1930, a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 pour des expositions agricoles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tenir une conf\u00e9rence d\u2019\u00e9glise dans des b\u00e2timents connus pour accueillir des \u00e9v\u00e9nements agricoles comportait son lot de d\u00e9fis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais le complexe semblait \u00eatre un bon endroit pour tenir PA 2015, compte tenu que les mennonites \u00ab sont connus pour \u00eatre de bons agriculteurs \u00bb, dit Liesa Unger de l\u2019Allemagne, responsable des \u00e9v\u00e9nements internationaux de la CMM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le coordonnateur national, Howard Good, et d\u2019autres organisateurs sont heureux du choix. De plus, la d\u00e9cision a \u00e9t\u00e9 b\u00e9n\u00e9fique pour les administrateurs et le personnel du Champ de Foire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le Champ de Foire accueille habituellement des \u00e9v\u00e9nements qui attirent une grande foule. (On attend 170 000 personnes au grand salon am\u00e9ricain du plein-air). Mais avec un groupe de 7 500 participants repr\u00e9sentant 65 pays, PA 2015 est \u00ab  beaucoup plus important que tous les autres \u00e9v\u00e9nements que nous avons eu \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle internationale \u00bb, dit Sharon Atland, directrice g\u00e9n\u00e9rale du Complexe du Champ de Foire (CCF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

De plus, la d\u00e9cision de faire de PA 2015 un \u00e9v\u00e9nement \u00ab vert \u00bb a cr\u00e9\u00e9 un pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent pour le Complexe du Champ de Foire. Le CCF a fait des efforts de gestion \u00e9coresponsable de moindre envergure dans le pass\u00e9, comme l\u2019installation d\u2019un moulin \u00e0 vent et de conteneurs \u00e0 recyclage autour de ses b\u00e2timents, dit Sharon Atland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab [Mais PA 2015 est] le premier \u00e9v\u00e9nement o\u00f9 quelqu\u2019un est venu nous dire \u201cnous aimerions avoir la plus petite empreinte \u00e9cologique possible\u201d \u00bb, dit elle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hannah Smith-Brubaker, secr\u00e9taire adjointe au minist\u00e8re de l\u2019Agriculture en Pennsylvanie, a exprim\u00e9 son appr\u00e9ciation aux participants du Rassemblement le 23 juillet 2015 \u00ab pour votre engagement \u00e0 faire preuve d\u2019une bonne intendance mennonite\u2026 et \u00e0 r\u00e9duire les d\u00e9chets alimentaires. \u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00ab Nous nous engageons \u00e0 transmettre ce message en suivant votre exemple et \u00e0 nous am\u00e9liorer nous-m\u00eames \u2026 en r\u00e9duisant les d\u00e9chets alimentaires dans nos installations, \u00bb dit Hannah Smith-Brubaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce fut un \u00e9v\u00e9nement diff\u00e9rent en tous points pour le Champ de Foire. Jimmie Carter, un employ\u00e9 \u00e0 un des stands de nourriture \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur du grand amphith\u00e9\u00e2tre, fait remarquer que PA 2015 les a tenus moins occup\u00e9s que les expositions agricoles quand des files d\u2019attente de clients affam\u00e9s s\u2019\u00e9tirent jusqu\u2019au milieu de la salle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il est content d\u2019avoir travaill\u00e9 pour cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement. \u00ab Nous avons appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 la musique \u00bb, dit-il \u00e0 propos de l\u2019ensemble musical international qui dirigeait les cultes pendant les s\u00e9ances pl\u00e9ni\u00e8res du matin et du soir. \u00ab Ne changez jamais cette musique! \u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n
