{"id":117779,"date":"2025-08-06T16:51:25","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T16:51:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mwc-cmm.org\/?post_type=prayers&#038;p=117779"},"modified":"2025-08-06T16:51:28","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T16:51:28","slug":"interfaith-statement-on-nuclear-abolition","status":"publish","type":"prayers","link":"https:\/\/mwc-cmm.org\/en\/prayer\/interfaith-statement-on-nuclear-abolition\/","title":{"rendered":"Interfaith statement on nuclear abolition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The secretary of MWC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/mwc-cmm.org\/en\/commissions\/peace-commission\/\">Peace Commission <\/a>signed on to an interfaith statement on nuclear abolition.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We invite your prayers and actions for peace in concert with the statement:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Our spiritual traditions inform our perspectives: while humanity is capable of inflicting grave, even apocalyptic harm, humanity is also capable of collaborating in solidarity for life and well-being.<\/em>\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We lament the equating of nuclear weapons with technological, strategic, or political advancement, or with the assurance of safety. We reject the equating of the nuclear power industry as a symbol of decolonization or environmentalism\u2026.\u202f<\/em>\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Our ethics and spiritualities insist that we join together for nuclear abolition;
