So began \u201cThat the World May Know\u201d (John 17:23), the fourth Global Gathering of the Global Christian Forum (GCF) in Accra, Ghana.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The gathering 16-19 April 2024 marked the 25th anniversary of the <a href=\"https:\/\/mwc-cmm.org\/en\/node\/74\">Global Christian Forum<\/a>. This is unique space for all major streams of Christianity to be together for encounter and prayer. Today, the GCF reflects the movement of the majority of churches from the Global North to the Global South.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A communiqu\u00e9 written by a group of eight representatives summarized the event.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo share our personal stories is to witness to the resurrection of Christ together. These stories act as bridges that help to foster mutual respect and embrace diversity by recognising Christ in the other,\u201d the GCF communiqu\u00e9 says.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/node\/143\">Faith and Life Commission <\/a>member Anne-Cathy Graber represented Mennonite World Conference at the Forum. \u201cIt\u2019s an honour to contribute to the third part of <a href=\"https:\/\/mwc-cmm.org\/en\/vision-and-mission\">MWC\u2019s mission <\/a>to \u2018relate to other Christian world communions\u2019 by participating in this global gathering,\u201d she says. \u201cWe pray that the world may know we are Christ\u2019s disciples through our unity lived out through gatherings like these.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\" style=\"float:right\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Anne-Cathy Graber represents Mennonite World Conference at the Global Christian Forum\" height=\"225\" data-src=\"https:\/\/mwc-cmm.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/gcf-2436.jpg\" width=\"337\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 337px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 337\/225;\"><figcaption>Anne-Cathy Graber represents Mennonite World Conference at the Global Christian Forum. Photo:&nbsp;Comfort Woode<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>Broken in humanity&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<p>The Forum included a pilgrimage to Cape Coast Castle where millions of African men, women, and children were kept in dungeons until loaded on ships that would take them to the Americas, Caribbean and Europe as objects of trade. In the church building above the dark stifling space, blessings had been invoked for the ships that carried captives away.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Story sharing throughout the Forum told of continuing dehumanisation across the world today. Following the castle visit, participants worshipped in Wesley Methodist Cathedral, calling for lamentation, healing and reconciliation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are empowered by the Spirit to act for the restoration of the world. As the broken yet reconciling Body of Christ, we can clearly hear the voice of the Shepherd who heals all wounds,\u201d declares the GCF communiqu\u00e9. \u201cThe church must raise its prophetic voice.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The very first youth gathering in GCF\u2019s history preceded the main Forum from 13-15 April 2024.
