Online participants find space for those barrier-crossing encounter at Mennonite World Conference\u2019s event in the Assembly Hub.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Event programs can be inspiring; however, the moments that make life change are often spontaneous connections over food or in workshops. \u201cIt\u2019s a mix between choice and chance,\u201d says Benjamin Isaak-Krau\u00df.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the Assembly Hub, under the \u201cCommunity\u201d tab, participants can click \u201cDiscussions\u201d to join 6-7 others. In this chat interface, participants can discuss across barriers of space and language (with the help of translation software).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Like a coffee break at an in-person event, the time in these rooms is limited to keep conversations fresh.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For those with video capacity, \u201cinstant networking\u201d offers a five-minute video call with a single person.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Or participants can send a person-to-person instant message through the app.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to conversations with you in chat spaces \u2013 serious ones about theology and lighthearted discussions of food and culture,\u201d says Natacha Wendyam Kendrebeogo, YAMEN participant on the Assembly registration team. \u201cWhat would you like to discuss with a global Anabaptist?\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>Registration has perks: take in ALL of Assembly&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<p>Online attendance at Assembly 17 is so much more than a YouTube video.
