{"id":7924,"date":"2022-02-19T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-02-19T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mwc-cmm.org\/for-all-people-to-live-with-enough\/"},"modified":"2024-12-06T02:38:34","modified_gmt":"2024-12-06T02:38:34","slug":"all-people-live-enough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mwc-cmm.org\/en\/stories\/all-people-live-enough\/","title":{"rendered":"For all people to live with enough"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cDad, as an extrovert, was also gentle and compassionate, and took on the role of caregiver to many people throughout his life\u2026 He gave generously and regularly with his finances, and had an interest in and desire for all people to live with enough,\u201d says Lorie Yantzi of Tavistock, Ontario, Canada, daughter of Nelson Yantzi.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Nelson Yantzi\u2019s family chose to honour their late father, grandfather and great-grandfather by directing his mourners to express sympathy by donating to MWC\u2019s Love Neighbours, Share Vaccines campaign.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mennonite World Conference joins with other faith-based organizations to call its members to share vaccines around the highly interconnected world by donating to the UN\u2019s vaccination program through UNICEF.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At publication time, $66&nbsp;000&nbsp;had been given in the name of MWC for UNICEF\u2019s campaign for global vaccine equity.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By mid-January, the campaign sent more than a billion vaccine doses to 144 countries with a target to deliver more than 4 billion by the end of 2022.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More than 5.6 million people in low- and middle-income countries have received a two-dose vaccine. The campaign also supports health care, ensuring the recipient countries have the cold storage, transportation systems and trained personnel in place to distribute the vaccines when they arrive.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Africa, the average vaccination rate is only 8 percent, compared with 60 percent in high income countries. The congregation covered their church walls \u2013 one and a half times around \u2013 with cut outs representing how many people could be vaccinated with the money raised.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you for challenging us and remind us about our global neighbours,\u201d says church leader Gordon Janzen.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe threat of the pandemic will not be over for some of us until it is over for all of us.
