Photo by Jon Carlson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThrough MWC, we have a forum to fellowship,\u201d said Osiro, pastor of Eastleigh Fellowship Centre, in Kenya. \u201cIt is not a time for us to be critical of or distance ourselves from one another.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The church itself can be a cause of doubt, Yoder Neufeld said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe church will test our faith. After all, you and I are in it,\u201d he said. \u201cBut the church is also God\u2019s gift of us walking together.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And God walks with us. \u201cThat is where our hopes and convictions are anchored,\u201d Yoder Neufeld said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walking with doubt and convictions is the story of Tigist Tesfaye Gelagle\u2019s faith life. She is a church youth leader in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and serves on MWC\u2019s Young Anabaptists committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learning about colonization in college, Gelagle struggled with the question: \u201cIs my faith an imposition of colonizers, or is it the truth?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But in the midst of these experiences, Jesus is a glimpse of hope that is beyond culture, religion and our understanding of faith, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs we strengthen our faith, doubt will sharpen our convictions,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Kelli Yoder is assistant editor at the <\/em>Mennonite World Review<em>.
