{"id":134048,"date":"2026-10-29T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-10-29T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mwc-cmm.org\/?p=134048"},"modified":"2026-10-29T00:16:46","modified_gmt":"2026-10-29T00:16:46","slug":"webinar-mission-vision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mwc-cmm.org\/en\/stories\/webinar-mission-vision\/","title":{"rendered":"When the body changes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A webinar on MWC\u2019s mission and vision<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mennonite World Conference is called to be a communion\u202f<em>(koinonia)<\/em> of Anabaptist-related churches linked to one another in a worldwide community of faith for fellowship, worship, service and witness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s talk: Mennonite World Conference invites our members to an online conversation 11 November 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This 75-minute webinar is an opportunity to hear how MWC leaders are building communion amid divisive viewpoints. Registrants may submit questions in advance for a question-and-answer period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In September 2026, one of the links of fellowship broke when Meserete Kristos Church in Ethiopia voted to end their MWC membership. This may leave other members with questions. What does this mean for the <em>koinonia<\/em>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThough we are called to make every effort to preserve the unity of the Spirit with the bond of peace (Ephesians\u202f4:3), sometimes we walk away from one another. As a global communion, we need to explore together how we can continue to live out unity amid polarization and division,\u201d says Janet Plenert, director of Communion Building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cJesus prayed that his disciples \u2018may all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I am in you\u2026 so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them\u2019 (John\u202f17:21). For the sake of God\u2019s mission in the world, unity is our calling,\u201d says C\u00e9sar Garc\u00eda, general secretary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is a critical time for MWC churches to discuss our calling to unity means for us.
