{"id":130196,"date":"2026-07-30T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mwc-cmm.org\/?p=130196"},"modified":"2026-08-05T17:14:43","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T17:14:43","slug":"solidarity-build-together","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mwc-cmm.org\/en\/stories\/solidarity-build-together\/","title":{"rendered":"Solidarity: What Will We Build Together?\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children\u2019s children to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Psalm 103:17\u201318 (ESV)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Keeping God\u2019s covenant and doing God\u2019s commandments means firstly loving God with all your heart and secondly love the other like yourself (Matthew 22: 37\u201340).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In reaching out to the ones in need \u2013 with support, a comforter, a hygiene kit or even only an email or app message saying, <em>\u201cWe pray for you\u201d<\/em> or <em>\u201cGod be with you\u201d<\/em> \u2013 we show that love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In forming a circle of believers around a synagogue or mosque that has been attacked; in using whistles to warn people in a neighbourhood to watch out for unlawful arrest; in peacefully protesting war and discrimination; in opening doors of our churches for everyone \u2013 we show solidarity with those who are oppressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In listening instead of judging and excluding; in accepting that people are different in many ways; in letting go of prejudice and being open to other cultures \u2013 we can show how every part is equally important to the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A hand on a shoulder, a hug, a piece of friendly advice, serving instead of expect to be served, a visit, washing each other\u2019s feet or even the simple question, \u201cHow are you?\u201d \u2013 there are so many ways to say: <em>\u201cYou are not alone!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If we want to be true followers of Christ, we have to follow his prayer that we live in unity, even if it is sometimes difficult and rough. Only then, out of solidarity, we can work for peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u2014Henk Stenvers is the president of MWC (2022-2028).
